Questions and answers
How does pausing apps work?
You pick the apps that should pause, on your own iPhone. As one of your chores comes due, they pause: first snoozable, then firm. When the chore is done, they’re free again at once.
Whose chores can pause my apps?
Chores you add for yourself or take from Up for grabs, and chores from others once you’ve accepted them with “I’m on it 👍” or “Snooze ⏰”. Person by person, you can also let someone’s chores pause your apps automatically: Me › Who can pause my apps.
How do I free my apps right now?
Busy? Snooze the chore for 15 minutes, an hour or until it turns firm. Emergency? Open the chore and tap Free my apps: your apps are free for as long as you choose, and the chore stays on your list. If someone gave it to you, they see why.
Which apps pause, and who sees them?
The ones on your lists under Me › My apps to pause. Only you see and change them, and they never leave your iPhone. Nobody in your household sees whether your apps are paused.
How do I turn pausing off completely?
Turn off ChorePlay in the iPhone’s Settings › Screen Time › Apps with Screen Time Access. Your chores and notifications keep working, and you can turn pausing back on under Me › Screen Time access.
How do I leave a household?
Me › Household › Leave household. Your open chores go back to Up for grabs, and apps your chores there paused are freed. Chores you created stay. If you’re the last one, the household is deleted with all its chores.
How do I delete my account?
Me › Delete account, then confirm with Sign in with Apple. Your profile, settings, app lists and photos are deleted, your apps are free at once, and your household goes on without you.
What deleting removes, in detail
How do I report something inappropriate?
Open the chore and report its photo, notes or reason from its menu. Your mail app opens an email to us, and we look into it.
What does ChorePlay cost?
Nothing while it’s in beta.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. ChorePlay is iPhone-only for now; an Android version is on its way.
